Hans-Joachim Reske

Hans -Joachim Reske ( born April 9, 1940 in Bartenstein ) is a former German track and field athlete and Olympic medal winner who - starting for the Federal Republic - one of the world's best 400-meter runners in the early 1960s.

His greatest achievement is the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 with the 4 x 400 - meter relay of the Federal Republic ( 3:02,7 min, European record, together with Manfred children, John Kaiser and Carl Kaufmann). In these games he appeared also in the 400 -meter individual race, but different in the intermediate run out.

More successes came at the European Championships in 1962:

  • 400 -meter run: 3rd place ( 46.4 s )
  • 4 x 400 - meter relay: 1st ( 3:05,8 min, together with Johannes Schmitt, Wilfried Kindermann and Manfred children)

Reske launched for the SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken, 1962 for the SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen. In 1962 he won the German championship in the 400 -meter run. In his playing days, he was 1.84 m tall and weighed 73 kg.
