Hans-Jürgen Walter

Hans -Jürgen P. Walter ( born March 25, 1944 in Weidenhausen, Germany ) is regarded as a founder of Gestalt Theoretical Psychotherapy in Germany.

Life

Walter studied psychology at the Gestalt psychologists Edwin noise and Frederick Hoeth at the University of Frankfurt am Main and his doctorate in 1977 at the Technical University of Darmstadt on "The Gestalt theory as the scientific basis of psychotherapeutic practice and its relationship to psychotherapeutic approaches of the present". Walters approach is considered the most formative theoretical contribution to the development of an integrative psychotherapy.

Hans -Jürgen Walter worked in Austria and Germany in teaching and training. He is Honorary Chairman of the International Society for Gestalt Theory and its Applications (GTA ) and co-editor of the international multidisciplinary journal shape Theory.
