Hans Keiter

John Ferdinand " Hans " Keiter ( born March 22, 1910 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, † September 2005) was a German handball player.

Hans Keiter played for RSV Mülheim and for the police SV Berlin.

At the Olympic Games in 1936 Keiter served as team captain of the German national team in three games in which he scored a total of two goals. When 10:6 victory in the final against Austria, he scored no hits. In February 1938 Keiter was, together with Günter Ortmann and Hans Theilig as one of three Olympic medalists to the German squad for the first world championship in handball. The German team won the tournament. In July 1938, the first World Championships of field handball was held, except Keiter, Ortmann and Theilig were more Olympic and world champion in another hall of the German team. The German team won the title itself: in the finals they defeated the team from Switzerland with 23:0.

Overall had Keiter 1935 to 1941 in 26 countries playing with, six of them in the hall. Hans Keiter was from 1930 until his retirement in 1970 policeman, most recently as Chief Superintendent. He was also active in the German Handball Federation. As a coach, he led the TV Krefeld- Oppum 1966 and 1967 to the German championship in field handball.
