Hans Kuhnert

Hanns H. Kuhnert ( born April 4, 1901 in Berlin, † July 29, 1974 ) was a German art director and film Kaufmann.

Life and work

The son of director Hans Wilhelm Kuhnert (born 1874) attended school up to the upper fifth and completed a commercial apprenticeship and trade school in his home town of Berlin. He then worked as a merchant. After a graphical training Kuhnert moved to the theater where he was as a set designer use.

Apart from an individual working for the cinema in 1930, Kuhnert turned just four years later, finally the film. He moved to Munich and equipped especially the home movies of producer Peter Ostermayr from. From 1940 he designed the sets for the core companies of the Third Reich UFA, Tobis, Berlin and Munich, Bavaria Film. After the war, Kuhnert was hard at first connection to the film business. He founded a film Kaufmann his own company, the HKM -Film GmbH, and designed in 1952 again Filmbauten, initially rotated for some in the Federal Republic U.S. productions. His main employer in the next ten years were the (West) Berlin production company Artur Brauner and Kurt Ulrichs.

In 1963, after his work on a Dr. Mabuse movie, Kuhnert withdrew from the movie work. Kuhnert, who had residences in Berlin and Bavaria, had a child.
