Hans Lietzau

Hans Lietzau ( born September 2, 1913 in Berlin, † November 30, 1991 ) was a German actor, director and theater manager.

Life

Training and first engagements

Lietzau broke from the study of theater and journalism in Berlin and attended 1933-1935 drama school of the Berlin State Theater under the direction of Gustaf. First engagements brought Lietzau to Kiel, Leipzig, and in 1939 finally. At the Burgtheater in Vienna

Theater

After the end of World War II Lietzau worked as a director in Bern, Berlin, Darmstadt and at Hamburg's Thalia Theatre at Willy Maertens. In 1955, he staged under director Hans Schweikart the first time at the Munich Chamber games. He was from 1965 to 1969 senior director at the Bavarian State Theatre, then, in two sections, from 1969 to the end of 1970 [note 1] Director of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and from 1972 to 1980 Head of the State Schauspielbühnen Berlin. Following this, he returned to the Munich Chamber Games, where he was still working as a director under the then leadership of Dieter Dorn. His last directorial effort was there, the staging of Ernst Barlach's The Blue Boll ( premiere on March 8, 1991), which was also invited to the theater meetings to Berlin in 1992.

After the change of Dieter Dorn at the Bavarian State Theatre The theater makers ( Premiere: December 18, 1988) was at the Munich games Chamber Lietzaus production of Thomas Bernhard's resumed and incorporated into the repertoire.

In addition to his activities at the theater Lietzau also worked as a film and radio director.

Private life

Lietzau was married to actress Carla Hagen. With the aim of making consistently accessible to her husband to the public the artist's estate, she left the Berlin Academy of Arts, the bequest as a gift. The legacy included a few thousand photos and documents for directing work in Vienna, Hamburg, Bochum and Berlin.
