Hans Loch

Hans hole ( born November 2, 1898 in Cologne, † July 13, 1960 in Berlin) was chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party and Minister of Finance of the GDR.

Life

As the son of a locksmith, he was drafted after attending high school in 1917 for military service. 1918 to 1923 he studied law at the universities of Cologne and Bonn and received his PhD in 1923 for Dr. jur .. He then worked as in-house counsel and tax counsel. In 1936 he emigrated to the Netherlands, returned to Germany in 1938 and was from 1939 to 1945 soldier of the Wehrmacht.

After the war hole was first as a farm laborer, then worked in the judicial service of the State of Thuringia. In 1945 he was co-founder of the Liberal Democratic Party in the district of Gotha, from 1947 Chairman of the municipal policy of the Central Board, since 1949 deputy chairman of the party, from July 1951, first alone and then together with Karl Hamann, following his arrest at the end of 1952 party chairman.

1946 to 1948 he was mayor of Gotha, then to 1949 Minister of Justice of Thuringia. On October 12, 1949, he was appointed as Minister of Finance in the first government of the GDR and had hold office until 24 November 1955. Allegedly, he was relieved at his own request on its function and should then take over the handling of the questions the whole of Germany. Since 1949 he was a member of the ( provisional ) People's Chamber, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers since 1950 and since 1954 member of the Presidium of the National Council of the National Front. Since January 1954, he was Chairman of the Council of Ministers formed by the Committee for German unity.
