Hans-Martin Linde

Hans -Martin Linde ( born May 24, 1930 in Werne ) is one of the most important German recorder virtuoso of the 20th century. He lives in Basel ( Switzerland ) since 1957.

Linde has dominated the game from the recorder and Traverso in new ways. As a soloist and chamber musician he has performed worldwide and played a lot of records and CDs, including numerous shots with the Linde Consort.

Linde also look back on a range of activities as a conductor. He worked with renowned orchestras, choirs and opera. 1984 to 2000 he was principal conductor of Cappella Coloniensis the WDR Cologne, the model was for other Baroque Orchestra. Subsequently, he worked several times as a conductor at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music.

His compositions include chamber music, often with a block or flute, as well as songs, choral works and orchestral music. In Linde's works one encounters while new compositional structures and avant-garde performance techniques. However, his language retains close to tonality and traditional forms.

Linde exercised at the Basel Music Academy a long teaching career. From 1957 he taught at the Schola Cantorum in Basel historical flute instruments and ensemble. He then took over as head of the Conservatoire (now Music Academy ). From 1979, he built up a class in choral conducting, which he supervised until 1995. He still is the Academy connected as a guest lecturer and examiner.
