Hans Peter Haselsteiner

Hans Peter Haselsteiner ( born 1 February 1944 in Wörgl ) is an Austrian industrialist and former politician (LIF ).

Training

After graduating in 1963 Hans Peter Haselsteiner studied commerce at the University of World Trade in Vienna, where he received his doctorate in 1970.

Entrepreneurial career

According to the practice in a business and tax accountant, he joined in 1972, the construction company of his father Isola & Lerchbaumer ( later Ilbau ) a. That company was formed through acquisitions and mergers of STRABAG SE Group, where he held various positions and has and which he tested by the majority owner FIMAG ( Finanz Industrie Management AG) controlled.

  • In the early 1970s he became CEO of Ilbau AG.
  • From 1998 he was chairman of the building holding company.
  • Since 2006 Haselsteiner CEO of STRABAG SE.
  • Hazel Steiner is co-owner and board member of the founded in 2008 RAIL Holding AG, which operates with the Western Railway a rail passenger to compete with the ÖBB.

On June 14, 2013 Haselsteiner stepped back from the top management; and was succeeded by his deputy, Thomas Birtel, previously head of Strabag AG in Cologne

Policy

Hans Peter Haselsteiner was 1994-1998 Member of Parliament, of which 1996-1998 Club deputy chairman of the parliamentary group Liberal Forum. Other features were:

  • Kammerrat of the Federal Economic Chamber to date
  • Member of the Association of Austrian construction industry since 1994 - chairman since 2002

In the national election of 2008, the Liberal candidate forum again unsuccessfully, hazel Steiner was involved as financier of the campaign, as economic spokesman for the LIF and Chairman of the Support Committee for top candidate Heide Schmidt.

In the national election in 2013, he supported the coalition NEOS financially and as a minister candidate. The electoral alliance moved into the National Council, subsequently merged NEOS and LIF in January 2014 the new party Neos - The New Austria and Liberal Forum.

Philanthropy

With the withdrawal of LIF from the National Haselsteiner support the Institute founded by Heide Schmidt for an open society, a non-partisan private foundation, with substantial amounts.

Less well known is Haselsteiner use against homelessness. It enabled the development of 16 residential communities with 29 residential places from VinziRast - CortiHaus in Vienna, a homeless house that was founded by Wolfgang Pucher and Cecily Corti. His private foundation funded half of the social centers for the elderly and needy people by Father George Sporschill in Moldova, the other half was provided by the Republic of Austria. Finally Haselsteiner rescued in the summer of 2008, the refugee project of Ute Bock in Vienna by a substantial major donation from bankruptcy.

For the support of the Tyrolean Festival in Erl Haselsteiner received the honor of the Province of Tyrol in 2012.
