Hans Schinz

Hans Schinz (December 6, 1858 in Zurich, † October 30, 1941 ) was a Swiss explorer and botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Schinz ".

Life

The son of the merchant Rudolf Schinz and Julie Schinz - Vögeli studied from 1880 to 1883 Botany at the ETH Zurich and in 1882 participated in a first research trip in Asia Minor. In 1884 he took part in an expedition that Adolf Lüderitz had sent for economic research into the acquired by him in South West Africa regions. In the years 1885 to 1887, he expanded his research independently from across the north east of today's reserve and the adjacent British Kalahari area to Lake Ngami.

His work German South-West Africa, research trips through the German protectorates Great Nama and Herero country, according to the Kunene River, Lake Ngami and the Kalahari (Oldenburg 1891) is patrimonial fundamental. Schinz habitilierte in 1889 in Zurich, he was there in 1892 and 1895 Associate Professor and Director of the botanical garden.
