Hans Scholl (astronomer)

Hans Scholl ( born November 14, 1942 in Heidelberg ) is a German astronomer and co-discoverer of numerous irregular moons of the planet Saturn and Uranus.

Biography

Currently, he is working at the Observatoire de la Côte d' Azur in Nice. In the years 1999 and 2000 he was a member of three different teams of astronomers who discovered the following irregular moons ( Gladman et al, Holman et al and Kavelaars et al.. . ):

  • The moons of Saturn XIX Ymir, Paaliaq XX, XXI Tarvos, Ijiraq XXII, XXIII Suttungr, Kiviuq XXIV, XXV Mundilfari, Albiorix XXVI, XXVII Skathi, Erriapus XXVIII, XXIX and XXX Siarnaq Thrymr

As well as

  • The moons of Uranus XVIII Prospero, Setebos XIX and XX Stephano.

Trivia

After him the asteroid ( 2959 ) = Scholl was named 1983 RE2.
