Hans Sikorski
The Sikorski Music Publishers are a group of medium-sized independent publishers, which go back to the eponymous publisher Hans Sikorski. The music publishing group is now involved equally both for works of entertainment and serious music.
Generally
After the publisher in the first years mainly devoted to hits from the films of the time after the founding of the modern Russian music developed in the second half of the 20th century, in the broadest sense, an important publishing center of gravity. However, the publisher has also composers of the German-speaking countries as well as from many other countries under contract, whose orchestral works, chamber music, solo works, operas, ballets and musicals are evaluated in part worldwide. These evaluations include performances, (image) phonograms recordings and radio broadcasts as well as licenses for giving impressions, edits, advertising or film use. Traditional core of the publishing activity is still appearing in numerous series of editions in the scores. The publishing program also includes the area of " Music for Children " among others with the famous songwriter Rolf Harris as a writer.
History
The foundation stone for the publisher put Hans Sikorski (1899-1972) in 1935 with the New Theater Verlag in Berlin. Within a few years reached the new stages and music publishing significant weight in the areas of dance and entertainment music as well as the dramatic and musical-dramatic literature. The early years were under the strong influence of political repression that time, which extended not only to the editorial supervision of the works entrusted and in particular the increasingly persecuted Jewish composers and lyricists. Numerous mostly Jewish publisher owner was forced by the Nazi regime to sell their companies, some of which then by Hans Sikorski - were continued and expanded in the following years in their catalogs - partly under retention of the old owner abroad. In the bombing raids of 1943 and the publishing offices in Berlin and Leipzig were largely destroyed. After stopovers in Bad Aussee and Bad Kissingen tried Hans Sikorski in Hamburg in 1946 a new beginning, since the only portion of the company had remained fairly intact with the 1795 founded and thus oldest music assortment Joh Aug. Böhme. Well-known composers and works from the repertoire Publisher
The publishing repertoire includes (as of October 2010) works by more than 2,500 composers and next serious music covers (for example, by Dmitri Shostakovich ) German -speaking and English-speaking Schlager Evergreens as well as music for children.
Edition series
- " Russian Music ": The number of Russian music of the 20th century, is dedicated to Russian and Soviet music. The selection of works ranging from representatives of the late Romantic style, the important masters of Soviet modernism to the representatives of the avant-garde. Furthermore, the number of Russian piano works for children and young people is published.
- " Exempla nova": In this edition series of new music more than 400 editions since its inception in 1971, is now published. Was it initially mostly young composers of the northern German region as Peter Ruzicka, Jens -Peter Ostendorf and Ulrich Leyendecker, and Russian modernists were added later.
- " New features": arrangements of popular classical songs in new and unusual combinations, such as chamber orchestra arrangements of Beethoven 's string quartets, a cello version of Brahms' " Double Concerto " or arrangements of famous pieces by Shostakovich, Prokofiev and Schnittke.
- " Ars instrumentalis " / " ludus instrumentalis ": Edition series for over 70 instrumental concerts (ars ) and more than 100 pieces of chamber music ( ludus ) old masters with a focus on woodwinds.
- "Pop Albums ": Contains scrapbooks for Evergreens, a number of Super 20 with 20 top hits and the number of melody & rhythm with edits on the keyboard sector with Auto Accompaniment.
- "Top- hit librettos ": From 1970, the publishing house published the series of top hits text books with multiple editions annually. The sold in their wedding in large numbers series was discontinued in 1990.
PR - relevant publications
The " Sikorski Magazine " with contributions published four times a year to the current music scene, authors of the house, performances and new releases. The first issue of the year is dedicated beyond the birth and memorial days of the next or the next year, the spring and autumn editions treat upcoming semi-annual events and summer appear Booklets with small essays, original sounds of composers and catalog excerpts.
