Hans-Walter Heyne

Hans -Walter Heyne Hedersleben ( born January 10, 1894 in Hannover, † August 29 1967 in Bodenengern ) was a lieutenant general in World War II.

Life

Heyne came from the monastery landowner family Heyne in Hedersleben. His father was Adolf Friedrich Eduard Heyne Hedersleben, lords of the manor on Radaxdorf at Marktleuthen; his mother Marie Wally Willich. Heyne married Elisabeth Mummy, the daughter of the owner Ludolf Jerome Mummy.

Heyne was a soldier. In World War I he was awarded in 1914 with the Iron Cross and the Cross of Honor.

During World War II Heyne was Genaralleutnant. He received in 1939 the Iron Cross Second Class, the Ostfrontmedallie and on April 4, 1943 as Oberst and commander of the artillery regiment No. 182 the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. During the Bobruysk offensive in June 1944, he fell into Soviet captivity. He was released in October 1955.

Retirement spent Heyne with his wife on the estate of his wife, the water castle Bodenengern, where he is buried.
