Hans-Werner Grosse

Hans- Werner Grosse ( born November 29, 1922 in Świnoujście ) is a German glider pilot.

Hans- Werner Grosse was trained at the age of 16 years to the pilot. During the Second World War, he flew torpedo operations in the Mediterranean and North Atlantic. After the war he was based in Lübeck, where he worked in the textile trade.

Hans- Werner Grosse has made in his record flight on 25 April 1972, an ASW 12 over a distance of 1460.8 km from Lübeck to Biarritz in the gliding history. After starting in Lübeck and eleven and a half hour flight, he landed in south-west France Biarritz. This record has existed for more than 40 years. But it is not his only success by far. With a total of 50 previously - gliding world records also include a 2nd place at the World Cup 1970 to do so.

For his 75th birthday, Hans- Werner Grosse was appointed by the German national gliding FAI classes honorary member due to his outstanding athletic performance glider.
