History

Precursor and foundation

Direct predecessors of today's Hanse Yachts shipyard is the Boat and repair yard Greifswald, which in turn originated in the Buchholz 's shipyard, the last great Greifswald shipyard for wooden boats had. Hanse Yachts was founded in 1990 by Michael Schmidt. It was started in 1993 with the Hanse 291, whose design was based on the Aphrodite 291 and the ideas of the designers Carl Baier and Bent Elgaard. 21st Century
