The Hanze Groningen is the largest establishment of the Hoger beroepsonderwijs (HBO) (roughly equivalent to a college in Germany ) in the north of the Netherlands. The Hanze Groningen, also referred to as " Hanze ", was founded in 1986 and has since expanded steadily. Of the more than 25 000 students in 2010 were nearly 1,700 students of foreign origin. In total, over 2700 people were employed at all locations.

Motto of the University

The motto of the university reads: " Share your talent. Move the world " ( to German as: parts your talent move the world. ). This should be expressed that the student is offered more than the receipt of a diploma, according to the Hanze. It should also talent while studying are taught, which further acts after graduation. According to this motto, the college is also a co-sponsor of the regional campaign "City of Talent" ( to German about: City of Talents ), which aims to promote Groningen position as a forerunner in the field of research, innovation and entrepreneurship.

History

Groningen is the second oldest university town in the Netherlands, and has two major universities: the University of Groningen and the Hanze Groningen.

The Hanze Groningen was founded in 1986 as a combination of several recognized regional educational institutions. The latest expansion took place with the Academy Minerva, School of Fine Arts, Design and Pop Culture, held in 2000. Since this exists already since 1798, the existence of the institution of this year is counted. Thus, they had their 210 th anniversary in 2008. In the area of ​​education and training internationally, the Hanze was the first university in the Netherlands, which started an International Business School in their offer. The name " Hanze " refers originally to the term " Hanseatic League", a medieval association of various Hanseatic cities, including the Netherlands, Germany and England. Organizational structure

The Hanze Groningen employs more than 2,700 people and has more than 25 000 Dutch and foreign students who are enrolled in one of the 70 courses. Management

Locations

The headquarters of the university with the majority of faculties is located on the campus Zernike Groningen. Individual buildings, however, are spread over the whole city. In Assen is the Hanze Institute of Technology. In Leeuwarden, the Academy of pop culture, which is part of the Academy Minerva, their location. In Amsterdam, there is finally the university Dansacademie Lucia Marthas. This works in conjunction with the Dansacademie Noord -Nederland, which is based in Groningen.

Cultural Activities
