Haptanthus

Haptanthus hazlettii is the only species of the monotypic genus Haptanthus which alone forms the family of Haptanthaceae. This species was rarely collected (as place of origin, there are only 5 km southeast of Matarras, Municipio Arizona, Atlantida ); there were several failed attempts the kind in Honduras later on.

Description

Haptanthus hazlettii is an evergreen tree. The change-constant leaves are simple and the leaf margin is smooth. Stipules are absent.

It is a monoecious getrenntgeschlechtige ( monoecious ) Art There are axillary, zymöse inflorescences, formed with the female flowers in the center. Bracts are not available. It contained two stamens in each flower, but it looks as if only one exists, with broad stamens. The three carpels are fused to a predominantly superior ovaries, with three styluses. Fruit and seeds are not known.

System

The inclusion of the family of Haptanthaceae is unclear and it is therefore currently in any order. Possible relationships is suspected in the families of Buxaceae, Salicaceae and Lacistemataceae. The genus and thus the family is only one way:
