Harald Paulsen

Harald John David Paulsen ( born August 26, 1895 in Elmshorn, † August 4, 1954 in Hamburg ) was a German theater and film actor and director.

Life

He made ​​his debut in 1913 at the Hamburg Stadttheater. From 1915 to 1917 he was a war participants, 1917/18 he played at the front theater in Jelgava. In 1919 he came to Berlin to the German theater.

From his extensive theater work is mainly his involvement as " Mack the Knife " in the world premiere of The Threepenny Opera mentioned. This performance took place on 31 August in 1928 in the Berlin theater instead on Schiffbauerdamm. In 1938 he took over the directorship of the theater at Nollendorfplatz in Berlin, where at that time mainly operettas were performed. He also directed and took over vocal parts. Until 1945 he headed the theater.

Paulsen appeared in over 20 silent films. In more than 90 sound films he made himself primarily as a fast-talker a name. There are vocal recordings with Harald Paulsen, also of The Threepenny Opera.

The actor and director Harald Paulsen died on 4 August 1954, only 59 years at the General Hospital in Altona after a stroke.

His son Uwe Paulsen ( born 1944 ) lives and works as an actor, comedian and voice actor in Berlin.
