Harald Welte

Harald Welte ( born 1979 ) is a German programmer and activist in the open source scene. He was known by the project gpl- violations.org, with which he wanted to draw attention to violations of the GNU General Public License for the first time and also won legal battles. For this he received the Free Software Advancement Award 2007 of the Free Software Foundation. He is a member of the development team of netfilter / iptables, the firewall in the Linux kernel. By 2007, Welte was instrumental in the Openmoko, left the project then, but due to time constraints. Since 2008 he has also worked as a consultant for the company VIA Technologies.
