Harari Region

The National Regional State of Harari People ( Amharic የሐረሪ ሕዝብ ክልል, English Harari People's National Regional State ) is one of nine administrative regions ( kililoch ) in Ethiopia.

It lies in the east of the country and includes the historically important city of Harar and the surrounding area. The titular represent the Aderi who speak their own language Harari.

According to the census of 2007, there were 56.41 % ( 103 421 ) of the population Oromo, 22.77 % ( 41 755 ) Amhara, 8.65% ( 15.858 ) Aderi, 4.34% ( 7,949 ) and Gurage 3.87% ( 7,102 ) Somali. 69 % were Muslims and 27.1 % Orthodox. 49.5% lived in rural areas. The annual population growth rate was 2.6% in 1994-2007, equivalent to the national average
