Concept

The Hard Rock Cafe are not primarily known for their food, but mainly because of its atmosphere. The chain features of over 70,000 exhibits the largest music collection of exhibits in the world. All exhibits are bought at auctions or directly provided by musicians available. Among other things, signed guitars, stage clothes, rare photos or gold records serve as a wall decoration in the various cafes.

The individual Hard Rock Cafes are stalls or shops attached where clothes and souvenirs are sold. Especially in the 1980s and 1990s it was popular to have visited as many Hard Rock Cafes and there to buy the t -shirt with the Hard Rock Cafe logo and the name of the city. Many visitors gather pins (pins), which publishes the chain regularly in limited editions. Also for the sold there T -shirts, glasses, teddy bears, drum sticks, Zippo lighters and even dolls, there is a brisk buying and collecting interest.

History

The first Hard Rock Cafe was born on June 14th 1971 at the Old Park Lane in London, on the premises of a former Rolls- Royce representative, opened by the two Americans Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton.

Her regulars then counted Eric Clapton, who had a firm place. To secure this, he had his guitar, a Fender Lead II, there hang on the wall. She is now in the safe of the HRC London and is on display there. A few weeks later sent Pete Townshend ( member of The Who) his guitar at the cafe, and then enlarged the collection.

1982 began Tigrett and Morton to open new cafes worldwide. The first Hard Rock Cafe was founded by Morton in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Houston. Tigrett founded branches in New York, Dallas, Boston, Washington, Orlando, Paris and Berlin. Tigrett eventually sold his shares to " Mecca Leisure ." " Mecca " in turn was bought out in 1990 by "The Rank Organisation ". " Rank" drove it continues to open more stores and finally acquired added the cafes that had founded Morton, as well as the newly founded by Nick Bitove Canadian chain.

Today there is not only Hard Rock Cafe, but also hotels, bars, casinos, an event hall and an exhibition of which is not in cafes exhibits. This is located in an old bank building and therefore got the name " Vault " (English for safe). The Vault in Orlando, which has the shape of an upside-down pyramid, has been closed after a year. In April 2008, the Amusement Park Hard Rock Park opened in Myrtle Beach (South Carolina ), which was closed after one season.

Hard Rock Cafe International Inc. from 1990 to the end of 2006 belonged to " The Rank Group Plc " based in London and operates its cafes, both under its own leadership ( primarily in the U.S. and Europe) as well as after the franchise system ( particularly in Asia ). In December 2006, the sale of Hard Rock International to the Seminole Tribe of Florida was announced for 965 million U.S. dollars, together with the already some of the Hard Rock Casino and Hard Rock hotels were operated. Exceptions to this are the Hard Rock Casino in London (whose name is altered ) and the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Since 2004 Hamish Dodds is the CEO of the company. Since the sale to the Indian tribe, the company is thriving despite the economic crisis.
