HardSID

The HardSID is the name given to a number of PC sound cards, which are produced by the Hungarian company Hard Software and was developed originally by Teli Sándor.

The HardSID cards are based on the sound chip SID ( Sound Interface Device, type 6581 or 8580 ) from MOS Technology, who became famous in the 1980s by the home computer Commodore 64. Compared to - also based on the SID - standalone MIDI synthesizer SidStation of music electronics manufacturer electron is at HardSID merely an interface to the computer in which the card is inserted. The first model of the HardSID from 1999 was designed for the ISA bus and contained a SID slot. The SID itself is not included in the box.
