Geographical location

Hargesheim is located on Gräfenbach in a tributary of the Nahe. Situated 5 km from Bad Kreuznach is located. Thus Hargesheim is located on the border between Rheinhessen and the Hunsrück. History

Through archaeological finds Hargesheim can be demonstrated in the series of the populated areas of the Neolithic period (about 5000 BC) classified in the Nahe region.

Hargesheim formed since 600 as a subsite of Prehistory and Altortes Roxheim. Around the year 1100 the place came to the County of Sponheim.

Hargesheim was first mentioned in 1158 in a directory owned by the monastery Rupertsberg. Due to the division of the County of Sponheim Hargesheim 1232 came to the front County of Sponheim -Kreuznach.
