Harmon Killebrew

Harmon Clayton Killebrew ( born June 29, 1936 in Payette, Idaho, † 17 May, 2011 Scottsdale, Arizona), nicknamed "Killer" and " Hammerin ' Harmon ", was an American baseball player.

Career

As a first baseman, he played in his 22 - year professional career for the Washington Senators, Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals. During this period he scored 573 home runs.

Killebrew was one of the best hitters of the 1960s, in eight years in a row, he hit at least 40 home runs per season. With the Minnesota Twins in 1965, he reached the World Series, but they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 1969 he was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the American League. Six times he had the league to record at season's end, most home runs three times, most run batted in. Killebrew was eleven times elected to the All- Star team. In 1984, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
