Harold Edwin Hurst

Harold Edwin Hurst, also known as Abu Nile ( born January 1, 1880 † 7 December 1978) was a British hydrologist. Hurst's studies of long-term storage capacity of reservoirs documented the presence of long-term dependencies in hydrology. Much of his research is due to the empirical observation of the Nile. The Hurst exponent, which was also used in other fields, such as financial theory and cardiology, was named after him.
