Harold Houser

Harold Alexander Houser ( born March 31, 1897 in Fort Valley, Peach County, Georgia, † September 3, 1981 in Bethesda, Maryland ) was an admiral of the United States Navy. He also served from 10 September 1945 to 22 April 1947 as 35th Governor of American Samoa.

Houser successfully completed a course of study at Marion Military Institute, before being appointed in 1917 to the United States Naval Academy. During his naval career, he held a number of positions, including as commander of the Naval Air Station Key West and as an artillery officer aboard the USS Omaha (CL -4).

During his time as governor, he represented the United States at a meeting of the major powers of the Pacific, where Australia and New Zealand participated. After the end of this legislature, he was appointed Rear Admiral and served as director of the Office of Legislative Liaison.
