Harold Patten

Harold Ambrose Patten ( born October 6, 1907 in Husted, El Paso County, Colorado, † September 6, 1969 in Tucson, Arizona ) was an American politician. Between 1949 and 1955 he represented the second electoral district of the State of Arizona in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

Already in the year 1916 came Patten to Tucson. Until 1930 he studied at the University of Arizona. In 1931 and 1932 he was a sports teacher at Tucson High School. Between 1933 and 1933 he was Head of Recreation of the City of Tucson and local schools. From 1939 to 1940 he held that post at the state level as a leisure agent of the government of Arizona. In August 1940, ie before the U.S. entry into World War II, Patten was a member of the U.S. Army. In 1941 he was transferred to the aircraft corps of the army. During the war he served for 31 months in North Africa and in Italy. On November 21, 1945 he was discharged as a Major from active military service. He was a member of the reserve, which was founded two years later, U.S. Air Force. On November 1, 1960, he retired as a lieutenant colonel from the reserve.

Political career

Between 1946 and 1948, Patten was representative of a life insurance company. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party as their candidate, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in congressional elections of 1948. There he took over from Richard F. Harless. After he was confirmed in the following two congressional elections, each in his office, Harold Patten could represent between January 1949 and January 3, 1955 3 the second electoral district of Arizona in Congress. In 1954 he declined to run again.

In 1961 he applied unsuccessfully for his party's nomination for a return to Congress. During this time he was again active in the insurance sector. In 1965 he became head of the Federal Employment Agency in Oregon ( Federal Job Corps Center). Harold Patten died in 1969. He presented his mortal remains of the medical faculty of the University of Arizona for research purposes.
