Harper County (Oklahoma)

Harper County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Buffalo.

Geography

The County is located in northwestern Oklahoma, bordered to the north Kansas and has an area of ​​2696 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Comanche County ( Kansas), Woods County, Woodward County, Ellis County, Beaver County and Clark County ( Kansas).

History

Harper County was formed on July 16, 1907 from parts of the Woods County and Woodward County. It was named after Oscar G. Harper, a member of the Constituent Assembly ( " Constitunional Convention " ) of Oklahoma.
