Harper Collins is an American publishing company with headquarters in New York. HarperCollins is a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, created by the merger of the American publishing house Harper & Row (since 1987 owned by News Corporation ) and the British publisher William Collins & Sons in 1990.

Worldwide Chief Executive Officer of HarperCollins is Brian Murray since 2008, who replaced Jane Friedman ( since 1997).

In October 2011 it was announced that Harper Collins took over the publishing house Thomas Nelson for an undisclosed price by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.. Thus, HarperCollins is the third owner of the company over the last eighteen months.
