The Harrier is one of the FCI (No. 295, Gr. 6, sec 1.2) recognized British breed.
Origin and History
The Harrier was built about 800 years ago in western England. His ancestors were probably Bloodhounds and precursor of the modern beagles. Its name derives from the Norman- French harrier, which means as much as hunting dog.
Description
The Harrier is up to 55 cm tall and 27 kg. All shades from black to orange on a white background normally occur; in France it is mostly grown in three colors. His coat is smooth, close fitting, but not too short. The ears are pendulous, flat, medium short.
