Harriet Harman

Harriet Harman ( born July 30, 1950 in Marylebone, London) is a British politician of the Labour Party.

Life

After her schooling at St Paul 's Girls ' School Harman studied at the University of York Political Science and graduated with a bachelor's degree. After studying Harman was from 1978 to 1982 working for the organization National Council for Civil Liberties.

Since 1982, Harman MP in the House of Commons for the electoral district of Camberwell and Peckham. Since June 24th, 2007 she is Deputy Chairman ( Deputy Leader ) of the Labour Party. Following the resignation of Gordon Brown on 11 May 2010 until the election of Ed Miliband 25 September 2010 Harman acted as Acting Chairman ( Acting Leader) of the Labour Party and therefore as opposition leader. From 28 June 2007 until 11 May 2010, it was Lord Privy Seal ( Lord Privy Seal), Chairman of the Government Group in the House of Commons ( Leader of the House of Commons ) and Minister for Women and Equality.

Harman is married to Jack Dromey since 1982. The family has three children.
