Harris County (Georgia)

The Harris County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Hamilton, named after James Hamilton Jr., a governor of South Carolina.

Geography

The county in the west of Georgia, bordering Alabama and has an area of 1225 square kilometers, of which 24 square kilometers of water are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Troup County, Meriwether County, Talbot County and Muscogee County.

History

Harris County was formed on December 14, 1827 as 71 County of Georgia from portions of Muscogee County and Troup County. It was named a lawyer and mayor of Savannah to Charles Harris.
