Harro Bode

Harro Bode ( born February 20, 1951 in Bad Sobernheim ) is a German sailor who was Olympic champion in 1976. Bode is the CEO of the Ruhr Association and a leading German water managers.

Career

Harro Bode began his career as a sailor helmsman in pirate and later in 470. After his Navy time in a sports feed command ( sailing) on the Baltic Sea, he became bowman in the Flying Dutchman. In 1974 he sailed as bowman together with Frank Hübner in 470. Hübner and Bode won bronze at the 1975 European Championship. 1976 at the Olympic Regatta Kingston reached Hübner and Bode three days wins and were Olympic champions. Hübner and Bode sailed for the Sailing Club Sorpesee - Iserlohn. Bode was from 1976 to 1979 active spokesman for the German Sailing Association and athlete representative on the Advisory Board of the assets of the German Sports Federation.

Harro Bode studied civil engineering at the University of Hannover and graduated as Dr.-Ing. He is a specialist in water management issues. 1979/1980 he spent one and a half years as part of a research stay at the University of California at Berkeley, USA. Since 1999, Bode honorary professor at the University of Hannover, he is responsible as CEO of the Ruhr Association for the water in the river basin of the Ruhr in 2004. For river basin of the Ruhr include its previous sailing areas, the Baldeneysee and Sorpesee. Bode is an honorary board member of the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste ( DWA ) and the Federal Association of Energy and Water Industries ( BDEW). Together with KR Imhoff and P. Evers he wrote the non-fiction book "Design examples of municipal sewage treatment plants " and published a large number of scientific and professional articles water policy.

Private

Bode lives in Essen, is married and has two adult children.
