Harry Cording

Harry Cording, a native Hector Cording, ( born April 26, 1891 in Wellington, Somerset, (or Portsmouth), England, † September 1, 1954 in Sun Valley, California ) was a British actor who was mainly used in sidekick roles.

Life

Harry Cording grew up in England, then moved to America and was there in 1925 his film debut. He was occupied primarily as a supporting actor, as last in His command and The Patriot 1928 each on the side of Emil Jannings. The change in the sound film succeeded only halfway - until the end of his career were many of his more than 270 film appearances without mentioning the opening and closing credits. Cording moved with his burly stature on the Embody mostly grim guards, police officers or criminals. He played about Thamal, the henchmen of Bela Lugosi in the horror film The Black Cat and the adventure classic Robin Hood, King of the Vagabonds he played the captain of the Royal Guard.

In the 1940s, he held various roles in eight films in the Sherlock Holmes series with Basil Rathbone and was there more often than all other involved actors seen in non-recurring roles. With For a handful of money he was able to record even a small success shortly before his death as the nemesis of Kirk Douglas. His last film was East of Eden, in which he played a bouncer in 1955. Harry Cording died at age 63 in California.
