Harry H. Mason

Harry Howland Mason ( born December 16, 1873 McLean County, Illinois, † March 10, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1935 and 1937 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even in his youth, Harry Mason moved with his parents to Delavan in Tazewell County, where he attended the public schools. He was then engaged in the newspaper business and publishing business. Since 1903 he lived in Pawnee. Later he hit as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In the years 1930 to 1933 he was on the staff of Congressman James Earl Major. From 1933 to 1934 he was treasurer in the administration in Sangamon County.

In the congressional elections of 1934, Mason was in the 21st electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the meantime resigned James Earl Major on 3 January 1935. Since he resigned in 1936 to run again, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1937. During this time other New Deal legislation of the Federal Government there were passed under President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Harry Mason worked again in the newspaper and publishing industry. He died on March 10, 1946 in Springfield and was buried in Delavan.
