Harry Heltzer

Harry Heltzer ( born August 22, 1911 in Cincinnati, Ohio, † 21 September 2005 in Lenoir, North Carolina) was an American manager and former CEO of 3M.

Life

Harry Heltzer was born in 1911 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Edward and Anna G. Heltzer. As a child he moved with his family to Minnesota. He graduated from the Minneapolis North High School. In 1933 he finished his studies in metallurgy at the University of Minnesota. He got his first job in the laboratory of the Department of abrasives in the 3M Corporation in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Heltzer 1965 Director and CEO of 3M 1966. In a few years he was able to increase the profit of 3M by 76 percent and expand the company in 150 countries around the world. In 1976, he retired into private life. At the University of Minnesota in the Harry Heltzer/3M-Lehrstuhl was established.

In 1975 he married Elizabeth Kent ( Jerri ) Heltzer who survives him. Just as his son and daughter and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Harry Heltzer died after several years of clinical care with 94 years at his home in Lenoir, NC
