Harry Kurschat

Harry Kurschat ( born November 3, 1930 in Berlin, Germany ) is a former German world heavyweight boxer. In 1956 he won silver at the Olympics. As an amateur he was a member of the Neukölln sports fans that are also used previously and later emerged Gunther Heidemann Oktay Urkal.

Amateur

Kurschat was a three-time German champion in the lightweight (1953, 1954, 1956). In 1955 he was European champion in West Berlin. 1956 won Kurschat at the Olympic Games in Melbourne, the silver medal in lightweight. The finals he lost to the British Richard McTaggart.

Professional

In 1958 he became a professional. His first thirteen fights he won. Kurschat took three attempts on the German champion welterweight title, which he, however, each failed. In March 1959 he succeeded against Rudi Langer only a draw in January 1960 he was defeated Conny Rudhof on points. In March 1961 he again ran Rudhof, this time he lost the fight by TKO in the ninth round.
