Harry Mitchell

Harry E. Mitchell ( born July 18, 1940 in Phoenix, Arizona) is an American politician and served from 2007 to 2011 Member of the House of Representatives of the United States.

Mitchell studied at Arizona State University in Tempe, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1962 and in 1980 his Master of Public Administration. He worked for 28 years from 1964 to 1992 as a teacher at Tempe High School and was an adjunct professor at Arizona State University. From 1970 to 1978 he was a member of the city council of Tempe and was from 1978 to 1994, the mayor of the city. In recognition of his service as mayor of a statue of him was erected and renamed the government building in town, Harry E. Mitchell Government Complex.

From 1999 to 2006, Senator Mitchell in the Senate from Arizona. In 2006 he held the post of chairman of the Democratic Party of Arizona and was chosen for his party in the 110th Congress, where he represented the state of Arizona in the House of Representatives of the United States.

Mitchell is married and has two children.
