Harry Rawson

Sir Harry Holdsworth Rawson, GCB, GCMG, RN ( born November 5, 1843November 3, 1910 in London) was a British admiral and primarily responsible for the " punitive" (now in Nigeria located ) sacked in 1897 the capital of Benin and plundered. This remained for Rawson without negative consequences, on the contrary, Admiral Rawson was promoted and officiated on 27 May 1902 to 27 May 1909 as Governor of New South Wales. Since William Bligh, he was the first naval officer, who held this post.

Admiral Rawson was appointed commander of the British naval forces at the Cape of Good Hope, and the expedition was in British circles widely regarded as an action disciplined and coordinated planning:

The four colleges of the University of Sydney (St John 's College, St Andrew 's College, Wesley College and St Paul 's College ) fight today at the Rawson Cup. This Cup was donated in 1906 by Sir Harry Rawson on his appointment as Governor of New South Wales.
