Harry von Zell

Harry von Zell ( born July 11, 1906 in Indianapolis, Indiana, † November 21, 1981 in Woodland Hills, California ) was an American singer, radio and television announcer and actor.

From Zell began his career after attending the University of California in 1927 as a singer and announcer on the radio, including for Bing Crosby. In the 1930s he also worked as a singer with the jazz musician Charlie Barnet.

He achieved legendary status when he called in 1931 by a slip of the American president Herbert Hoover " Hoobert Heever ". In the 1950s he appeared in TV comedy shows on as a partner of George Burns and Gracie Allen in Burns Allen Show ( 1951-1958 ) and George Burns Show ( 1958-1959 ). Six years he was employed by CBS. During his long television career he has worked with Eddie Cantor, Fred Allen, Phil Baker, Dinah Shore and Joan Davis and was taken after his death in the National Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

He was an active 1935-1980 with more than forty films and television series, where he often played himself. Legendary was his appearance in You're in the Navy Now (aka USS Teakettle ) opposite Gary Cooper as Captain Elliot.
