Geography

The place is located in the northern Harz foreland on Goldbach southeast of the county town of Halberstadt. Through the village leads the federal highway 79 to Quedlinburg, east a link road branches off from the after life paths.

History

Harsleben was first documented in 1136. The village belonged until 1648 to the diocese of Halberstadt, which was then combined and secularized as the Principality of Halberstadt with the Electorate of Brandenburg. Harsleben was the seat of a separate office and arrived in 1815 at the Magdeburg Region of the Prussian Province of Saxony.

Culture and sights

  • Evangelical Church of St. Simon and Jude, which overlooks the village. The first building was constructed in 1200, a conversion to evangelical church in Renaissance style was 1601. The nave has after rebuilding a wooden coffered ceiling and is supported by a strong oak column. The rib-vaulted choir in Gothic style was built in the 14th century. Economy

Until August 2007, in Harsleben the traditional dairy Rusack was established, which was closed a few years after the takeover by the Müller Group.
