Harsum

Harsum is a municipality in the district of Hildesheim in Lower Saxony, north of the city of Hildesheim. The community has largely share in the fertile soil of the Hildesheimer Borde and is agricultural. Smaller areas of forest as Borsumer and Aseler forest and Subeeksholz and Holle sea timber shape as the landscape. Through the capital flows Harsum the nonsense Bach.

Geography

Harsum is close to the branch channel of Hildesheim and the A 7 motorway in the Hildesheimer Borde. The municipality borders clockwise from the northeast Algermissen, Schellerten, Hildesheim, Giesen and Sarstedt.

History

In the oldest extant documents of the place was called " Hardessem ." In the principality of Hildesheim Harsum was one of the largest villages. During the Hildesheim pin feud the Harsumer fought victoriously on the side of the Hildesheim Prince Bishop John IV of Saxe- Lauenburg against Brunswick. Since then, the Harsumer citizens were allowed to choose their pastor for centuries even.

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Adlum, Asel, Borsum, Hönnersum, Hüddessum, Small Förste, Machtsum and Rautenberg were incorporated.

Culture and sights

  • The Catholic parish church of St. Cecilia at the church square, also called Harsumer Cathedral, is an impressive neo-Romanesque basilica, consecrated in 1886.
  • The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Andrew at the Osterfeldstraße was built in 1911.

Traffic

Harsum lies on the railway line Taught -Hildesheim. Since 2008, the line S 3 S-Bahn Hannover has hourly connections via Taught to Hanover Central Station and to Hildesheim Hauptbahnhof. The internal development and connecting to neighboring towns take bus lines of regional transport Hildesheim

The connection point 61 " Hildesheim Drispenstedt " between the villages of Asel and Drispenstedt the A 7 is located near Harsum. In addition, the federal highway 494 and the branch canal Hildesheim run through the municipality. The airfield Hildesheim is located a few kilometers from Harsum away.

Business

The most important employer is the non-standard system ( well construction ), which holds the headquarters of its corporate group as well as its largest development and production site here. Another major employer is the Jensen GmbH (formerly Jensen - Senking GmbH), which shifted their production (laundry technology) in 2002 from Hildesheim to Harsum. Next maintains ANZAG ( pharmaceutical wholesale ) here a logistics center and the Tele Atlas ( digital cartography) has its German branch here. The specialty chemical manufacturer Biesterfeld has a plant in Harsum. The LYNX Medical OHG ( oxygen and ventilation technologies), and LYNX Medical Verwaltungs GmbH have their headquarters here largest company in Harsum has long been the defunct sugar factory in the northern sugar AG.
