Hartmut Haenchen

Hartmut Haenchen ( born March 21, 1943 in Dresden ) is a German conductor.

Life

After Hartmut Haenchen was under Rudolf Mauersberger member of the Dresden Cross Choir, he was already leading 15 years as cantor concerts. After conducting and vocal studies, he began as director of the Robert -Franz -Sing Academy Halle ( Saale) and as conductor of the Halle Philharmonic (now the Staatskapelle ) his career. His journey took him to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, the Dresden Philharmonic, Chief Conductor Staatskapelle Schwerin, at the Komische Oper Berlin, the Staatsoper Berlin and Dresden and from 1986 as chief conductor of the Netherlands Philharmonic, the Dutch Chamber Orchestra ( Netherlands Chamber Orchestra ) and as music director of the Netherlands Opera in Amsterdam, which he is still connected as a guest conductor. Since 1980 he is also the Artistic Director of the Chamber Orchestra Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. The orchestra in 2014 to finish his work. From 2003 to 2008 he was artistic director of the Dresden Music Festival. 2006-2010 he was a guest conductor of the Opéra National de Paris. 1989-1993 and from 2010 he has been a guest conductor of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, London. Concert guest appearances have taken him to Armenia, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, China, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, France, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, USA and Belarus. In 1985 he was appointed professor in his activities as head of a conducting class at the Academy of Music in Dresden.

Awards and Affiliations

Many awards honoring his artistic work. He received the 1984 Art Prize of the GDR and the 1988 German Record Prize (now the "Echo "). He was appointed as the first German Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion 1996. In 2002 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Amsterdam, and in 2006 received the honorary Dutch citizenship. In October 2008 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2009 he was awarded the GRAND PRIX DE LA CRITIQUE, Paris. 2011 Diapason d'Or for the DVD Gustav Mahler Symphony No. 6 in 2011 and the GRAND PRIX DE LA CRITIQUE, PRIX DE L' EUROPE FRANCOPHONE for Parsifal production in Brussels. Haenchen is a member of the Saxon Academy of Arts. Hartmut Haenchen is the founding chairman of the Friends of Dresden Concert Hall Foundation eV

In March 2007, Haenchen came out in protest against the " polemical tone and inadequate " the open letter of the CDU politician Arnold Vaatz as part of the dispute over the Dresdner Waldschlößchenbrücke from the CDU.

In September 2013 Haenchen received an honorary doctorate from the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden.
