Harvey Weiss

Harvey Weiss ( born 1945 ) is an American professor of Near Eastern archeology, anthropology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at Yale University.

The 1976 received his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania archaeologist leads since 1978 the excavations at Tell Leilan and is mainly known for his research on the influence of climatic conditions on cultural changes. His research focus is the time of the empire of Akkad, from which a royal palace at Tell Leilan was found. This is especially resorted to modern satellite-based research methods and paleoclimatology to investigate the collapse of this empire. On this issue, and white on the theory that a massive climate change had a significant influence on the collapse.
