Geography

The village is located partially in the area of Hüggel, which belongs to the conservation area Teutoburg Forest. The altitude ranges from 62 m to 228 m above sea level. In Hasbergen is the 108 meter high Roteberg. On the northern outskirts of Wilke creek forms the border with the neighboring city of Osnabrück.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the west by the Westphalian communities Lotte and Tecklenburg, to the south by Georgsmarienhütte and Hagen and the north and east to the city of Osnabrück.

Today's Hasbergen consists of the formerly independent communities Hasbergen, guests and Ohrbeck.

History

Is mentioned in a document Hasbergen for the first time in a document of the monastery of Corvey in 836 Hasbergen The name is due to the altniederdeutsche word Hers or hors ( for Ross). This developed into probably the name Haslage as the former castle and the estate were designated in the southwest of the village.

1819 Augustaschacht Ohrbeck was set up for the extraction of ore; it is located at the border of the neighboring municipality Georgsmarienhütte and served 1944/1945 as a penal colony, is reminiscent of the now a memorial.

Center redesign

As part of the town center redesign a transformation of the village center is currently being promoted who suffered through the modernization wave of the 1970s.

As a milestone in mid-2005 the provision on the given tunneling path between Hamburg and Cologne can be viewed. This allowed the two barrier systems be abolished, which had led to significant traffic delays.

In 2006, a pedestrian bridge has been built on the Tecklenburger road to shorten detours for pedestrians and cyclists. In 2010 the kindergarten Sundries has been extended to a crèche. In 2011, the railway station and the adjacent grounds were extensively rebuilt. It created new parking areas. The former station building is now used as an office building.

In the years 2011/2012 the parish hall of the Protestant church was completely demolished and rebuilt on the same site.

Museums

In Hasbergen there are two museums:

  • The Geozentrum Hüggel is located in the former cinema Schierke on Red Mountain and is home to rocks and fossils that have been found during excavations in the Teutoburg Forest.
  • The memorial Augustaschacht located in the district Ohrbeck. The main building was used during the Second World War as a prison camp.

In Hasbergen there are two swimming pools, Leisure Land Hasbergen and the natural pool Hasbergen, two tennis clubs, tennis club Hasbergen ( TVH ) and the Hasberger Tennis Club (HTC ) and two sports clubs, the SV Ohrbeck and Spvg guest - Hasbergen.

Traffic

  • Hasbergen has its own railway station on the railway line pan - Eickelmann -Hamburg. Here the branches used only in the freight line from Georgsmarienhütte. From 1887 to 1926 ran between Hasbergen and the Permian coal mine at Ibbenbüren the Perm Railway, whose track again was used as a bypass path for the Osnabrück Main Station in the Second World War. Education

In Hasbergen there is a crèche. This is connected to the Protestant Church, and is located between the town hall and kindergarten Sundries. In addition, there are three kindergartens.
