Haskell Indian Nations University

Haskell Indian Nation University is an American state university in Lawrence, Kansas, which is only available to members of state-recognized Indian tribes. The college was named after Dudley C. Haskell, who was Chairman of the Committee on Indian Affairs in the U.S. House of Representatives once.

History

The institution was founded in 1884 as a boarding school for Indian children should be weaned from their culture.
