History

Documented Haslach was first mentioned in the year 786. In a deed of 26 December 786 Heimo and his daughter Svanahilt transferred some villages, including Haslach ( Haslaha ) the monastery of St. Gall. Since no previous documentary answers are known, so it can not be determined how old Haslach is actually; however, it is clear that the foundation is present 786.

The parish Haslachs is a 1261 first documentary mention, but needs some time have passed. Since the Reformation Haslach belonged to the Margraviate of Baden -Durlach, it was like these Lutheran and Evangelical uniert 1821. So the current Melanchthon Church is the oldest Protestant church in the city of Freiburg and has the oldest church tower of Freiburg. The Catholic parish church St. Michael dates only from 1909 and has been expanded several times massively.

Under the Mayor of Freiburg Otto Winterer ( term 1888-1913 ) after the incorporation in 1890 began the expansion Haslachs with housing estates for the workers. During this time, the garden city in Haslach was modeled on the British Ebenezer Howard. This development characterizes the district until today.

The paved area around the fountain was originally triangular, it was rounded off to the side to Gutleutstraße because of the increasing traffic volume in 1908.
