Hasnon

Hasnon in a commune with 3818 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Nord and Nord -Pas -de- Calais region. It is located between Lille and Valenciennes, Valenciennes is part of the arrondissement and canton of Saint- Amand- les -Eaux -Rive droite. It is located in the Regional Natural Park Scarpe- Escaut (French Parc naturel régional Scarpe -Escaut ).

History

The abbey was founded in 670 as a double Hasnon Benedictine monastery of Johann and Eulalia, the children of the Earl of Ostrevant.

867 pulled Irmentrud, the wife of the future Emperor Charles the Bald, after Hasnon back, where she died 869. Your daughter was abbess of the same here.

880, the abbey was destroyed by the Normans and in 1065 by Count Baldwin VI. constructed of Flanders again.

In September 1792 the inhabitants of the abbey an Austrian attack, which earned them a mention in the order of the day of the Convention opposed; the army preserves the memory of it under the name " Gardes Nationaux, flanqueurs d' Hasnon ".
