Hassan Tabataba'i-Qomi

Grand Ayatollah Sayed Hassan Tabatabai - Qomi (* 1911) is an Iranian Shiite clerics. Faqih due to his criticism of the Velayat -e made ​​him the Iranian government since 1984 under house arrest.

Life

Grand Ayatollah Hassan Tabatabai Qomi is the son of Grand Ayatollah Qomi from Mashhad. He lives under house arrest since 1984. In addition to this issue, which restricts to teach his ways, his theological authority is threatened by the fact that the Iranian government systematically preferred the city of Qom as the center of theological learning, to the detriment of the city of Mashhad.

In an interview with the London magazine Kayhan International between June 1997 Tabatabai Qomi condemned the theological basis of the principle of rule of the Supreme Leader ( velayat -e faqih ) of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a violation of Islamic principles. He also described the election of Mohammad Khatami as president in 1997 as an indication of the rejection of the velayat -e faqih by the Iranian people.
