Hassel, Saxony-Anhalt

Hassel is a municipality in the district of Stendal in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ). It belongs to the municipality Arneburg - Goldbeck.

Geography

The community is located approximately seven miles north-east of Stendal, west of the Elbe. At Hassel include the districts wiper, Chausseehaus and Sanne.

History

The place name is derived from Hassel hazel, which refers to the hazelnut. Hassel 1208 is first mentioned. For the 800 - year celebration in 2008 Hassel got a own coat of arms.

Through a field amendment agreement, the municipal councils of the municipalities have Hassel ( 29 January 2009 ) and Sanne ( 27 January 2009 ) decided that their communities are dissolved and merged into a new community with the name Hassel. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 July 2009.

Coat of arms
