Hassi Messaoud (Arabic حسي مسعود or حاسي مسعود ) is a city in south algeria Sahara in the province of Ouargla, who has acquired by large oil discovery in 1956 a certain notoriety.

The Oued Irara - Krim Belkacem Airport ( named after Crimean Belkassem ) provides, among other flights to London -Gatwick, Madrid and Paris Charles De Gaulle.

A woman pogrom in 2001 gave the city negative headlines.
